Heather Gauthier
Owner/Artist of Heather Gauthier Art
Our #WomanWednesday this week is talented local artist brining color and creativity to walls across the country 🎨 👏🏻
Heather Gauthier hosted her first showing six years ago at Twin Sisters Bakery & Café and has been painting fulltime since, about 100 pieces a year 🧑🏼🎨 You can find her work on permanent display at the San Antonio Children’s DoSeum or in a gallery in Austin, New Orleans, Marietta, and as far as Singapore 🙌🏼
In addition to her painted canvas artwork, Heather globally licenses her images for wall art, china, tea towels, cards, as well as many other home goods 😍
In 2019, Heather’s husband quit his desk job to become a stay at home dad and support Heather’s burgeoning art career. But making that decision was not easy. “Going out on your own is terrifying because neither success nor a paycheck is guaranteed.”
One advantage for Heather has been her retail background. Her experience in the wholesale/retail industry taught her different avenues of marketing, a solid sense of business, how to work with others, and graphic arts.
As an artist, she is creative, kind, and introverted. At the same time, she is a businesswoman who is providing for her family as she works to grow her brand through original art. In the process there have been set-backs and disappointments, but also many successes. Her advice for other women is to, “Advocate for yourself and don’t be afraid to say no or to cut someone out who doesn’t have your interests in mind. It’s okay to be assertive when it comes to your business.” 👏🏻
