San Antonio’s chapter of Fashion Group International (FGI) has made a significant impact to help place this city on the Texas fashion map. On August 3, industry leaders presented Fall 2016 Fashion Trends to an awaiting crowd of media and fashion followers in an impressive presentation held at Neiman Marcus.
Xitlalt Herrera-Salazar, public relations manager for Neiman Marcus and FGI Regional Director-Elect, moderated the presentation which included a prestigious panel of local fashion stars. The panel included atelier Angelina Mata, Project Runway participant and designer Samantha Plasencia, Project Runway All-Star Winner and local boutique owner Anthony Ryan Auld, and merchandising expert Suzan Lambillotte. “FGI has always prided itself on being a frontrunner for trends across the design world, “said Herrera-Salazar. “With this event we truly gave industry professionals an insider’s look at what’s next, and what consumers are going to be looking for in the months to come.”
Models, styled beautifully head to toe in designer fashions from Neiman Marcus, wore trends presented earlier this year in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. The panel discussed the how and the why behind four trend areas: all shades of gold; a rich, saturated berry color; fall florals; and velvets.
This season designers were heavily influenced by the passing of musicians David Bowie and Prince. There are more variations of bomber jackets; richly embellished shoes; and velvets throughout clothing and accessories. Women will also see the return of the choker necklace. When speaking of the gold trend, Ryan-Auld said, “I believe Rachel Zoe did gold just right on the runway this year with an amazing gold maxi and brushed gold in her separates. But, we even saw gold thread in Alexander McQueen’s collection.” Plasencia reminded San Antonio ladies the saturated berry colors look good on all shades of skin, and can be worn throughout the year.
The trends and various collections were received with excitement for the coming new season.
